The sole function of the Spackenkill Rowing Club (SRC) is to provide support for the Spackenkill Rowing Team. SRC is a separate entity from the school and school district. We are recognized as a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation. As it is with other high schools throughout New York State, crew is a club sport at Spackenkill. What this means is that rowing is not fully funded by the school district. The Spackenkill School district pays coaches’ salaries, team transportation to practices, transportation to and from meets, regatta entrance fees, half of USRowing membership fees and half of usage fees at HRRA boathouse for the team.
The Spackenkill Rowing Club provides everything else that is necessary to put the team on the water. We purchase, own, and maintain all the boats, oars, launches, launch motors, tools and related equipment. In addition, we own a 40’ boat trailer and a 12’cargo trailer. We transport all the boats and equipment to any regatta that require travel.
